Pray for Baghdad

Al-Amin al-Thaniyah is a neighborhood in New Baghdad, a district on the eastern part of the city. In 2003, Shiites renamed it “Al-Murthadha District,” after the first Shiite imam. It is within the New Baghdad district and is close to the neighborhood where this half moon shaped monument is, as seen in the above picture.  The Al- Shaheed, or Martyr’s Monument, was commissioned by former leader Saddam Hussein to represent the Iraqi soldiers who fell during the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980’s. It is one of three monuments that were built to remember Iraq’s pain and suffering as a consequence of the eight-year war and is designed to represent the ongoing movement between life and martyrdom. 

Pray for:  Please bless Baghdad with identity and authority as sons and daughters of the King. Pray against the victim mentality that is easy to succumb to given their history. Pray they know the One who gave their life for them so that they could have eternal life.
