Day 1 - March 10, 2024

THE CITY OF BAGHDAD

Welcome to the month of praying for Baghdad! Thank you for signing up and for taking the time to pray over this beautiful city. During Ramadan we will be exploring different neighborhoods and significant areas of the city while giving prayer points and a characteristic of God to pray over that neighborhood and the whole city. As a side note, the picture for each day may not be from that exact neighborhood, but is still within Baghdad. Feel free to worship to the YouTube link that is also included with each day. Thank you again for praying!

Baghdad in Persian means “Gift of God” and another name given to it in 762 AD as The City of Peace when it was established as the capital of the Abassid Caliphate. Baghdad is the world’s second largest Arab city with approximately between 8-12 million inhabitants, comprising almost a quarter of Iraq’s total population. Baghdad was once the world’s largest city. It was famous for the House of Wisdom, one of the world’s largest libraries at that time, before it was destroyed by the Mongols in 1258. The Tigris River runs through Baghdad separating it from east to west and is the most significant geographic aspect of the city. Although Iraq is predominantly Muslim Shia, Baghdad is a mix of Sunni and Shia along with Christian background Assyrian and Chaldean and other minority sects and religions. May the Prince of Peace be found and known during this month of Ramadan in the City of Peace!

Pray for: This city to be known once more for being the City of Peace and not a place of war or death. Pray that every person would hear and believe in the Prince of Peace.

Characteristic of God: Prince of Peace

“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

Praying as a group?

Leading others in prayer is a great step in making disciples. We want to celebrate your and their faithfulness. For each person that prays with you, we will add 15 minutes to the 32.8 days of prayer committed so far.
