Thank you for covering Baghdad with 24-7 prayer this Ramadan! We’re excited to see God’s Kingdom grow in this city.
Saydiyah
Saydiyah is a neighborhood close to the Baghdad International Airport. It is a middle-class area that was still not immune to the violence of the civil war in the mid-2000s. A large mosque Um Al-Tabul is seen from the highway in Saydiyah along the road to and from the airport. More construction is happening here every day to accommodate housing for more people moving into the city.
Although the above picture is not in this neighborhood it represents life and so pray for life to come back to Baghdad. The Tigris River and the Euphrates River which is located west of Baghdad have both been dangerously low in the past years due to neighboring countries damming the rivers from the north and lack of rainfall.
Pray for: This region is known as the Fertile Crescent and Mesopotamia, or the land between the two rivers. Pray against the destruction of the ecosystem here as many are being forced to move to the cities as the rural areas are becoming uninhabitable due to heat and lack of water. May life return here physically and spiritually!
