Thank you for covering Baghdad with 24-7 prayer this Ramadan! We’re excited to see God’s Kingdom grow in this city.
Abu Disheer & Arab Jabour
Abu Disheer and Arab Jabour are currently 80% Sunni area and are places where there has been an Al-Qaida resurgence in the past. These neighborhoods, along with the whole country, have seen huge amounts of violence and instability over the past 40 years between the Iran-Iraq war in the 80’s and then the US invasion in 2003 followed by ISIS in 2014.
Pictured here is a coppersmith showing his handiwork in the fading copper market in central Baghdad. Although copper craftsmanship is something Baghdad used to be famous for, the art is not being passed down to the next generation so this handiwork is slowly dying out.
Pray for: Many are traumatized from previous wars and conflicts and are struggling with depression and despair. Pray they would know the God of Hope and have that outlook on their futures.
