Thank you for covering Baghdad with 24-7 prayer this Ramadan! We’re excited to see God’s Kingdom grow in this city.
Abu Nawas
Abu Nawas is an area on the east coast of the Tigris next to the famous district of Karada. Even just a few years ago it was an area with broken swing sets and dying grass. It has since been built up with a running track along a newly paved sidewalk representing how the city of Baghdad is starting to rebuild after years of devastation. There are now multiple playgrounds for kids and community grills for people to have picnics along the Tigris. Despite this, the area is still known for prostitution and drunkenness. One testimony that was posted online is that a depressed man was looking into the Tigris and instead of seeing his face’s reflection, he saw the reflection of who he knew to be Jesus. He has since given his life to Him and no longer is bound by depression!
Pray for: The people of Baghdad to know that they are seen by God this Ramadan. Pray that they would realize they do not have to strive for His love, but simply accept Him.
