Pray for Baghdad

The Green Zone, or International Zone is a heavily fortified 10km² area in the city located on the western shore of the Tigris. It protects the world’s largest embassy, belonging to the US, along with many other embassies. Special permissions and pre-arranged appointments are needed to enter and most Baghdadis will never be allowed to enter throughout their lifetime. It has been the target of some rocket attacks in the past several years mostly as a protest against US and western presence in the city. It was created to mark a “safe” place in the city while the rest of Baghdad was considered “red” as dangerous. The Green Zone is a constant reminder to Baghdadis of western presence and fortification from danger. 

Pray for:  That Baghdadis would know that God is that Sanctifier and that He alone can redeem and protect. Pray also against the stronghold of hate and unforgiveness that comes from years of war and trauma.
